Hey Wired Fuzzy! I don't know if you remember me, but I am a long time user of your plans. I am almost maxed out for th8, and was wondering if you were close too. You are the only person I trust to make great bases consistently, so I just had to ask.

    Thanks,

Hi fuzzy. Got this plan on at the min. But the only thing I changed is moved up the motor and air defence left 1 tile and moved that wall so that it's not a 4way wall didn't like that someone could take out 1 piece of wall to get into 4 parts of the Base. And now it looks like a potential tesla spot for the unsuspecting attackers. Just a thought, always clashing hard gernash.

Hi WiredFuzzy - i´m using your Plans since TH7 and you made a great job!!! It´s only a quick step to start my upgrade to TH9, so my question is when will you do a base Plan for TH9? Keep on the good work!!!

Wired Fuzzy - I've got a couple months left at TH8 then I'll be starting my TH9 upgrade. Are you planning to publish a TH9 plan? I also started a second base that is currently at TH3. If you need some more testing at the lower levels let me know.

    Hello Wired!
Really enjoy your set ups, as well as thorough explanations as to why you use them. Currently going between your TH8 Defense, and Farming bases. I had to switch to the farming style because although the defense set up was good, I was still getting my butt rocked by more advanced troops. Usually level 6 Giants with Archer Queen and pretty much everything else. I would get 1 starred about P of the time, but still lose resources. I'm hoping to deter some people with your farm set up, and save some resources.

I read the comment about creating a Clan War set up. Basically I took your Defense set up, and swapped the AD to a more central spot, and put the storages on the outside. Someone tried to Dragon blast me, and only got one star. The top member had to 3-star me with maxed Dragons and Rage spells. The Dragon attack is spammed in Clan Wars, so I have no idea how it holds up to other attacks. Just in case, I also found ways to place Giant Bombs, and/or Skele traps next to AD to prevent a Hog rush. So yeah, CW base = your Defense one modified.

    Hope that helps!

paRadoX_ - HI! Great to hear from Germany!
Greetings from the middle of the Arizona Sonoran Desert! It's always good to hear from a new user, and like I tell everyone, feel free to comment as much as you like, I LOVE getting factual feedback from people using my designs, and I am open to questions, comments, and always suggestions. I am honored that you would make me your first comment, and I appreciate the kind words... THANKS MAN!
I really do need to create a CW base, just a few minutes ago I had to recommend one from another designer to someone on another page of mine. If I get a chance to finish a CW design, if it's OK with you, I might message you, and ask you to do some testing for me, since I never get the chance to CW myself.
Thanks again for your support, and Clash On!

    Hey Wired Fuzzy,

just hit TH 8 yesterday and wanted to let you know that I choose, copied and activated both Farming (2 Drill) and Defence (2 Drill) of this! I have never commented on a plan (base) before. But I think you really deserve it because of the information you give and just by looking at the base I think you have done the best of what they give you at TH LVL 8. It just needs to be field tested and will let you know how it goes in the about a week or so, that I have some numbers for ya how its doing in action. Keep up the good work and keep clashing! :)

    Greetings from Germany

PS. Was wondering if you ever thought of creating a pure clan war base. That might be a challenge, and would help you if wanted and needed. Would be cool

Crimson Wonder - Hey, good to hear from you! For right now I'm going to say it's the 1 gem boost deal that's making all the raiders go nuts. I am actively using three accounts at the moment, and all three have been getting slammed from the levels above me. Even in a Farming layout, they take the TH, then take the rest if they can. We'll see how it goes when this is over, but the extra DE drill has already made us a bigger target than we used to be. I can reach a higher trophy count in TH7 now without attacking than I can in TH8, because suddenly the TH8's have plenty of DE to steal. Heck even the TH7 bases are getting hammered way more, now that they have a drill. So I don't have a cure yet, not sure if or what I should do until stuff plays out a little more. Let me know if you have any thoughts while you're watching your replays, I always appreciate constructive input.

Sorry to hear you're having medical troubles, I can empathize. Through my experience I would say that optimism makes a huge difference. As far as the ballon thing goes, I got absolutely mounted the other day by mass balloons and heal spells. I am trying to figure out where I should put my air bombs, and where I should move my defenses so my AD stays alive longer. My layout is defeating pretty much all TH8 attacks except for balloons. It could be because I made it so compact, but I think the compact design is why it stops ground attacks so well. If you look at my layout, I am trying to replicate your AD bait strategy. Plainly, I need advise on air bomb and air defense placement. Hope you start feeling better soon!

I moved it up one click, ( I wasn't completely sure if that's the direction you had in mind, it just seemed the most logical ). That should keep any TH Snipers from getting pissed now, let me know, OK? If they can't see a safe place to attack the TH now, they're just too stupid to be at this TH level! ;-) Remember, be aware that even TH snipers will go for your DE now though, if you have enough to get their attention... so you are going to get all out attacked more than you did in the lower levels, no matter what! Good to hear from you again, hope all is well with you, and thanks for the suggestion!

Wired Fuzzy - I've been at TH8 for two weeks now. I used your TH7 pure defense and loved it. I'm currently using your TH8 farm base. I love that with the update I can keep the TH8 defense base on quick standby. I did place my second de drill different than you have here. I placed one of the south gold mines outside and put the drill there. I moved the builder hut near the lab and placed the gold mine there. I will probably tweak this some more but so far it is working well. I was hit with some high level troop and hero attacks initially and got completely wiped. It was discouraging but I hung in there and since then I haven't lost much if any loot even with all out attacks against the base. They attack from the north to get the TH and by the time it goes down some of the troops have been wiped. I keep a witch, wizards, and archers in my CC. With my raiding the few stars I loose because the TH gets taken doesn't concern me. Thanks for all the effort. I'll touch base again later.

Njord - Concerning the severely reduced hitpoints on the Army Camps after the last update, here is my thinking on that, at least so far,(but only time will tell for sure)... I don't believe the Army Camps ever were really all that helpful as a buffer. The reason, is that they are almost impossible to cover from ranged troops, particularly Archers, but also any ranged troop, Wizards, etc., and the ONLY defenses with enough reach to be of any help in protecting them are Mortars, which are too vulnerable to put that close to the edge, and Archer Towers. Even Archer Towers don't quite reach far enough, and it takes some tricky design work to get maybe 90% of the Army Camp covered. Attackers just drop troops down out of range, and the troops will find the safe spot, and stand there untouched, firing on the camp until it's down. At that point the Archer Tower can finally get a shot in, and as they get close, other defenses as well.
So here's the thing, although the camps will obviously go down quicker now, MOST of the time, the point at which defensive fire can hit attacking troops hasn't changed, therefore actual damage from defensive fire hasn't changed either, it'll just happen somewhat sooner. The double fire rate of the Archer Towers now, will actually help against lighter troops like Archers. Therefore, at this point in time, until I see a lot more replays, and they indicate otherwise, I believe that the Army Camps are still best placed as centered on the Archer Towers as possible, which I have already done in this layout. As for the other hitpoint changes, they were mostly positive, and there hasn't been enough time go by yet to really get a handle on what might be gained by swaps. I don't think it's going to require a dramatic placement difference though, I believe the extra hitpoints will just help out a little more wherever they are.
Sorry, I know that's kinda long winded as usual, but I felt I needed to explain my thinking, as I get the same question on other pages, and now I can always resort to cut and pasting this answer if I'm in a hurry. :-P
Thanks again for taking the time to help out, and good luck!

Njord - YES! You have hit on the crux of the matter! THAT is exactly the kind of information you simply can not know until the base is being used, and you can watch replays. My feeling is that a fairly small group of Barbs can take out a Tesla REALLY fast if there are no walls in the way, so if I was attacking, and I saw the Teslas pop up outside the walls, I would drop a dozen barbs down and only drop more if needed until the Teslas were dead. Your new setup looks good by the way, I see you used a couple of my suggestions, I hope I steered you correctly! :-P

Njord - Thanks dude, I really appreciate the time taken to give me the ratings, that is terrific!
I had made a few changes to your layout, very subtle, mostly trying to separate those Giant Bombs so one Minion scout can't set them all off without then ever doing any damage. Then I checked in on you again, and you had made almost the same changes! Pretty funny. I would move the right hand Giant Bomb on the bottom row to the right 2 clicks, and the bottom one on the right side down 2 clicks, and put the Skeleton traps between them on the inside up against the ones you just moved. I would then move your Teslas inside, next to the Giant Bombs you just moved... one to the right of the bottom one, and one under the right one. Lastly, I would switch that bottom right Gold Mine with your AQ to even out your Hero coverage a little bit. She's killer as a Defense anyway, and that way she would be near where most people are probably going to try and break through. You have a great design there, and these are ONLY SUGGESTIONS, don't feel like you need to make the changes, go with what feels right to you!
Of course now you'll need to figure in another DE drill... welcome to the wonderful world of designing. :-P

    Thanks for quick answer.

Figured it since you dont farm, toobad though. Was hoping you would be near TH9, since I am a month or two max from mine and have looked alot after a good farming base (which protects both elixir and gold storages) without any luck.

So until you have one, I will try my own base I built a few days ago.
Still some time until I can try it and see if it works or only looks good on paper.

Good luck with future endeavours and if you got a second to look at mine, I would be extremely grateful since you know your stuff unlike me (atleast yet) ;)

Njord - Good to hear from you! Thanks for taking the time to comment. As to how I am doing on my own base, I am at TH8 and level 68, so I have a long while to go before I hit TH9 unfortunately. I have only built one TH9 base in the past, and although it worked very well, I no longer have any record of it, and don't remember well enough how it was laid out to duplicate it, (it was a year ago now). I have not had good luck with designing a base I haven't been able to actually use, so it may be a while yet before I have a TH9 out. I don't progress very fast, as I am constantly screwing around with the design looking for improvements, and sometimes they backfire horribly, and I lose a lot of ground. That coupled with my basically no-attack way of doing things slows my progress down a bunch, as unless I get the time to raid, which never happens, I only gain resources from my mines and pumps.
Thank You so much for your kind words of support, and I hope to hear from you again soon! Clash On

ODNALRO - God dude, I know how horrible my description is! It has been added to piecemeal since my first Pure Defense Base, and it shows. It's on the list of things to re-do, now all I need is about a day to re-do all of them on my different plans, and that just never seems to happen. SORRY!
The basic idea, is that this base is built up out of my Pure Defense Base plan, and was originally designed for the purpose of gaining Trophies without attacking. This design attempts to allow someone who primarily wants a defense base, but needs to use a Farming Configuration periodically for lowering their trophy count and obtaining a free shield, to do so. This base is still primarily a Defense base, so it was only intended for occasional use as a farming base, and still puts emphasis on defense even when in the Farming Configuration. The reason you come across a lot less farming bases in TH8, than you do in other levels, is that TH8's are the whipping boy for everyone TH9 and higher, as they have a lot of DE, and no extra defenses to protect it. The upshot is that EVERYONE who attacks you from TH9 and up is after DE, and even if you give them the TH, they are most likely STILL gonna go for your DE, and that's all there is to it. So, again, the Farming part of this plan is for occasional use to drop Trophies for staying at your ideal farming level, and not constant farming for saving up resources.
OK, so here are the steps to convert this from a Defense base into a Farming base... or you could just look at the plan you are switching TO, and make yours look like that!
    :-)
    1) Move the Town Hall in the top left corner out of the way somewhere, or remove it if you are using the game's edit feature.
    2) Move the Research building into the spot where the Town Hall was.
    3) Move the bottom right Gold Mine into the spot where the Research building was.
    4) Move the center Elixir Storage down to where the Gold Mine just came from.
    5) Move the Gold Mine in the center to the left one click.
    6) Move the DE Storage over to the left one click.
    7) Move the center Skeleton trap to the left one click, and down one click.
    8) Move the Clan Castle down one click.
    9) Move the center Tesla down one click.
    10) Move the Town Hall back into the center.
    11) Congratulate yourself for successfully changing your Farming base into a Defense base, and treat yourself to your favorite beverage as a reward.

I hope this helped, I promise I will sort out my descriptions as soon as I have time! Thanks again for taking the time to comment, and I hope to hear from you again!

NumanTheHuman - Thanks for checking in! I am sorry to hear it's not working for you. Can you tell me how many times you were attacked, versus how many times you got 3 starred? I never claimed that no one would be able to three star this, or any other base for that matter, but I want to keep them down to just the ones that can not be prevented with only TH8 defenses to work with. (A determined attacker from higher levels will always be able to overcome lower level bases a certain percentage of the time in this game, that's the principal it's built on... the strong preying on the weak.)
As a maxed TH8 I am guessing you are holding onto a significant amount of DE, and that is the big problem for most of us. You'll find that getting your DE taken is a fact of life in TH8. EVERYONE, and I do mean EVERYONE TH9 and higher will do anything to get it, as everything they use needs it, and TH8 is as low as you can go and find any... so everyone farms TH8's to death. I really do want to try and improve this design if possible though, so I would like any input you can give me that will help me improve this plan! Any details as to what types of attacks are working, and what areas they are attacking from would be greatly appreciated. Unless others chip in with problems or suggestions, I can only design according to my own experience with the plan, and since other people's mileage can vary greatly, other users input (good and bad) is desperately needed for me to keep improving the plan as I should.
Believe it or not, you will get WAY LESS STARS given to attackers if you switch Storages, and move the DE out farther in the base, where it can be had without taking out the section the TH is in. That is the way an old school Defense (Trophy) base SHOULD be built, with the emphasis on preventing trophy loss from higher TH attackers, and NOT so much on Resource protection, as the two are basically mutually exclusive for the most part. I would actually recommend doing that switch if you really want a for-real defense base, as most attackers will only go for the DE, and not try and take the whole base that way. Of course you don't lose any more DE than if it was in the center, after all, they can only get x amount of it from you, no matter where it's located. I learned early on however, that most folks, like yourself, expect even a Defense base to defend the Resources as much as a PURE Farming base will. So, I make every effort to put the DE in the center, and cover it with every defense I can squeeze in near to it. This results in what used to be called a Hybrid Base instead of a Defense base. Now days however, real Defense bases, (which USED to be called Trophy bases), are few and far between, and the current crop of Defense bases would actually more accurately be called Hybrids if the term was still popular. This means that most of the Defense bases popular today will make some effort to one degree or another to protect the resources as much as possible, and I have done the same here.
I really do hope I can get this plan working as well as possible for you and everyone! In the meantime, if you can't hold out, the absolute best plan on the site for protecting your DE is Midget Psycho's Dark Protector 8.0, but you'll still get the DE raided a LOT, no matter who's base you use. It is, unfortunately, the nature of life in TH8.
Thanks again for taking the time to comment, and I hope to hear back from you!

    Hey, Wired Fuzzy.

Have been using your bases since townhall six and are currently using this one. Works great and nine of ten attacks is only townhall sniped even with large ammounts to steal.

Was wondering how you are progressing on your own base and if a townhall nine is in the making?

Ps, big fan of your bases and hope you keep making in the future.

I have my original TH7 Pure Defense Base, and TH7 v2.0 Pure Defense Base, which are both very popular, and well proven plans. I am currently working on a convertible TH7 pair of plans similar to these 2, based on the Pure Defense TH7 plans, but I've been kinda busy lately, so it's taking me longer than it normally would. I never rush a plan though, so I won't release it until I know it works, and I'll announce it on my plan pages from TH6 and up when it's ready. Thanks again for checking in, and I hope to hear from you again!

    overlord_dan - I got cut off again...
    as well as other traps.
I hesitate to move the TH much farther out, as I have no extra buildings in mind to use to protect that corner from a Barcher attack.
My original idea for the Skeleton trap was to have it come out if the attacker tried to push through after the TH went down. I have no problem with moving it where it will work better though! Can you suggest a spot on the inside where you have been having the need for it on the Giant/Healer attacks? That would be very helpful, as I am working on enough current plans at this point that I can't reconfigure my own bases, and try them all out, in a reasonable time frame. Let me know what you think on the trap, as well as the TH move. If you think the TH needs to go out farther I'm going to have to do some major figuring out on perimeter building placement.
Thanks again for you continued invaluable help, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

overlord_dan - Thanks yet again for your always thoughtful and pertinent comments, they always help out.
First, I must have accidentally pushed that TH down in the corner, and I never noticed it! I have moved it up one space, which is where I had originally intended it to go. In the new position, it can be taken out with a single archer, which is what I had in mind all along! I think by this stage attackers SHOULD be aware of the Archers 3.5 square range, and be able to spot the position to attack from in under 10 seconds or so, I know I certainly could. When I snipe TH'S, I am always a little suspicious of a TH off by itself, I've encountered too many hidden Teslas

As you can tell by reading the comments, I encourage everyone who uses my bases to stay in touch, make suggestions, point out problems, etc., so please do check back often. I would suggest to change few items in this plan:first move TH farther from the base to make trophy hunters job easier and chance of getting free shield is more(i personally prefer to snipe far TH s from the base)second move the outside skeleton trap inside the base so that they will have more chance to help defences to stop giant healers rush.

NumanTheHuman - WOW, Thanks for the 5 stars! I needed it, as someone had just one starred me, so THANKS man. My reasoning behind keeping the CC over to the right, is that we get a LOT of attacks on that AD on the right, and this positioning allows the CC troops to deal with it if they get too close. PLEASE though, if you want to make the switch, please watch your replays, and let me know if you think it was a good switch. Try and look for evidence that it was of more use OVERALL (over say, a half dozen attacks to that area), than where I have it shown. This kind of input is what makes my bases keep getting stronger... there is no substitute for experience in using the plan, so anyone who is using it's input is very welcome. Thanks again so much for your comments and support, on BOTH pages!

Ninja123 - You are absolutely correct. Unfortunately, something has to go on the outer ring, and I had used up all my inside spots. I do recommend in my very long description, that you only upgrade the 3rd Storage, Gold or Elixir to only about level 5, until such time as you really need the capacity. You would then put the two weakest Storages in the outer ring locations. This way, even if they are hit, you won't lose much.
Thank You for taking the time to leave a comment, I really appreciate feedback on my plans!

Hey everyone - This is the first in a new series of bases I am doing that are Farm Convertible Defense bases. They are derived from my successful Pure Defense series, and are still essentially defense bases at heart, but with a few small changes they become a working Farming base. I will be doing the TH7 set of bases next.
Please leave me a comment, and a great rating if you like them... just the comment if you don't. ;-)
