    Hello Wired Fuzzy,

Thanks for the advice! I'm upgrading to th5 now, so I'll be using your th5 base soon!

Also, do you have a separate war base for th5 as well as a defense base or are they the same?

    Hi Nishie.

I see I missed a message from you before this one... sorry about that! I don't physically check this site very often anymore, and although I get an email notification when I get a message on here, I have over 30 email accounts, and sometimes things get lost in the shuffle!

I wish I had better news for you, but the truth is, at this low level, you have so little to work with, you are always going to be vulnerable to someone with enough strong troops of any type. I have played around quite a bit with this layout, and have found that anything I gain against stronger attackers by pulling defenses in tighter around the TH, is offset by how easy it is then, for a horde of low level attackers, like a Barcher attack, to zero you. Since it is more likely to get hit by cheap troops at lvl 4, than it is to be hit with more expensive ones, (attackers don't expect a big gain in resources from lvl 4, so typically they try and get away as cheap as possible when attacking), I opted for the better protection against the inexpensive masses. Watch your replays, and if there is a certain specific point that the Giants are always getting through, we can try moving the bomb(s) and/or the Spring Trap to compensate. The Spring Trap is the best defense against Giants you have at this level. Ideally we want the Giants to bunch up before they hit it, so it will throw off the maximum number of them possible. If you are getting hit frequently with Giants in one area, we may be able to put a Spring Trap just where they enter, AFTER they hit a bomb, which will slow the lead Giants ever so slightly, allowing the rest to bunch up with them when they then step on the Spring Trap.

Your absolute best bet though, is to upgrade the base completely as fast as realistically possible, and move up a level. With each new level you get more defenses to work with, and then you actually have a little more choice as to what to put where, in order to compensate for various attackers strategies. I honestly believe that is an intentional aspect of the game design, that trys to get people to spend money in order to level up quickly. While that is always an option, patience will work as well, it just takes time to get there!

Watch your replays, keep upgrading as far as you can, and let me know what you think about where you are getting attacked, and if it's consistently in one spot, or if you are just overmatched for your defenses, in which case all you can do is wait to level up.

    Good Luck,

    Wired Fuzzy

Hello Wired fuzzy! I'm now using this base, and it is AMAZING. It helps kill most air troops (i.e balloons) and the design sometimes funnels goblins right into those bombs and the spring traps. The only problem that sometimes rekts my base are the giant/wiz combo. My base recently got attacked by that, and it got destroyed. Is there any way to prevent that? btw my walls are still lvl 3. Thanks for your help and the comment!

Good Day Sir Wired! I have been tired of losing in my current rank which 800+ . The reason why I lost was because of I being purposely insisted on gaining 1000+ Trophies in mere days. But to my suprise I was heavily being outgunned since my highest level on my barracks is only 5. In which other would already have a level 2 wizard which would incenerate my defences quickly. In any case, I have designed my base to be like yours. I hope to have more wins than loses now. Finally, thank you for your plan!

thurtt - Thanks for leaving me a comment. Especially a compliment, I appreciate that! You did the best you could do by trying moving the lab, there is unfortunately, not much to work with at this level in the way of buildings. At this level, no matter what you do, there will be some weak spots, you just have to build it the best you can, so that it wins more than it loses, which is, I hope, what I have achieved with this layout. I realize it's not perfect, but it's the best I could come up with, and I've tried to do better just cause it's so plain looking. I really hope you like the TH5 plan, it's a fun layout every time I take a base up through it. Thanks again for the kind words, and I hope to hear from you in the future, on another page. Clash On!

Hey! Been using your plans since TH3 and you do great work. I normally won about 70-80% of my defenses (if only i could do that with my attacks) and this base was great especially. However though, and i don't know if there is a remedy, but I've been losing quite a few to concentrated attacks on that left side particularly the top corner. I've tried moving the Lab there (due to it being a lower priority building in an area i thought to be "overpopulated" with buildings i figured i could re-purpose it) but i didn't really help much. I've moved on to your TH5 just a moment ago so I'm anxious seeing where it can take me. Thanks.

pumpkinpie - HELLO! Good to see you here now! Could you possibly give me a few more details on where you are at right now...
    1) How many walls do you have, and at what level are they?
    2) What TH4 defenses do you NOT have yet?
    3) What level are the defenses you DO have?
    4) What is your trophy count (approximately)?
    5) Do you raid for resources, or are you using the Pure Defense method of No Attack?
    6) What level are your Barracks, Army Camps, and Laboratory (Research)?
    7) What level are your Gold Mines and Storages, and Elixir collectors and Storages?
    8) Is your base located exactly where I show it in the plan, or is it somewhere else on the board?
If you can help me with the answers to as many of those questions as you can, I'll try and help you figure out where to go from here.
Thanks again for using my plans, and taking the time to contact me!

masijacoke85 - Although the base is designed to go into that bottom right corner to work as well as it can, you can use it wherever you can squeeze it in until you can move the obstacles. Until you get the AD, just put the top collector that is outside of the base in its place. If I had to choose, I would remove the obstacles in your way, and move the base down where it goes before I bought the AD, as air strikes won't get common place for a while yet for you. Then, as for defenses, I would upgrade the Mortar, then the Archer Towers, then the Cannons, then the AD, followed by the walls and other stuff. If you ARE getting hit with air strikes a lot, get the AD first of course, but you probably won't get too many of them until you get a lot of resources built up for your next TH jump. By TH5, if you are still using my plans, you MUST put the base where I show it in the bottom right corner for it to work, so obstacle removal has to happen by then! Let me know if you need anything else! I check my pages as often as I can, work and life permitting, so I WILL answer, sometimes it just takes me a little longer than others. :-P

SJOEE - Thanks for bringing up the two builder issue, it's something I seem to continually forget, I have in mind which one I could live without when I lay it out, I just forget to mention it in the description when I'm done.
I also appreciate the report on your experience using the base. The new version isn't dramatically different than the one you used, should just do a little better against the "Barcher" type attacks. I'm sure a lot of people using this plan raid as well, and that's great. It is a quicker trip through the level if you have the time to raid. Your right about the higher levels with the extra troops having a big advantage, but at least TH4 goes by pretty quickly, and in TH5 you at least have some more defenses to work with.
Thanks again for the comments and great things you had to say about the plan.

Thanks for considering the 'two builders' issue by the way, I used to just leave one out but slightly altering the building positions probably would've been better. I did manage to collect enough gems for the third builder by now, so I no longer have that issue.

I've used this base (the one before the last changes anyway) and it worked quite alright. I have to admit that I often do raids to pay for a lot of upgrades because I'm too impatient to wait for my collectors to give me enough resources, thereby pushing my trophy count up a fair bit.

Around the 700-800 trophies mark it's not too uncommon to get attacked and wiped using this base, but given the army sizes used it's no surprise and I can't blame the base design for that. Usually if I did get defeated, it was by a TH5 or TH6 (and as you know, TH5 gives a third army camp so the amount of units they field are just too much for your defenses to handle).

What I liked about this base is that it protects all the collectors as well, doing a fairly good job at making an attacker commit to destroying a large part of your base if they want to get any mileage out of their raid. People can still destroy it if they really want to (i.e. if you make it worth their while by having a lot of resources around), but for most it will not really be worth the effort.

EVERYONE - I have made changes 11-3-14. I have rearranged the buildings around the perimeter of the base for better defense of the outside buildings from Archers, as they can no longer hit them without coming in range of your defenses. I have also moved the bottom spring trap to the bottom of the compartment to catch anyone breaking through that corner, and placed the lone wall piece out farther to extend the distance at which an attacker can put down troops right there. I believe these will be helpful improvements. I would like to give a shout out to SJOEE for prompting me to add a line in my description letting folks who only have two Builders Huts know which one to leave out. That caused me to notice some places I could improve on, thus these changes. THANKS SJOEE.

NOTE TO EVERYONE... The brand new, much improved TH6 v2.0 Pure Defense Base by Wired Fuzzy has just gone live. WAAAYYYY better protection from the increasingly common Barcher attacks! Try it, You'll like it!
And, as always, please give me a 5 star rating if you haven't already, (you can always lower it later if you hate it), to keep the "rating rats" from chewing away at it with 1 star ratings to raise the ratings on their own bases, until it gets buried on page 50, and no one who could use it ever gets to see it.
THANKS YET AGAIN to EVERYONE for the continued support, and CLASH ON!

NOTE to ALL, just so there is no further confusion, I have this base laid out so that the bottom right corner on this plan coincides with the bottom point or corner on the Clash of Clans screen. When I refer to or show something as the "bottom right corner" here, I mean the bottom corner on the game, and conversely if I show something in or talk about the "top left corner" for example, I mean the top corner or point on the game screen.
