Brand Spakin' New Builder Tool has Arrived!

    Our New Improved Builder Tool!

What?!? A new builder tool! Why yes it is. It is here in full effect! Neggs put months of sleepless nights into creating this builder just for you! So many cool new features. Everything a builder tool could possibly need right here on Clash of Clans Builder! Follow me as I take you through all of the new features of the builder.

    Starting your base plan

You first want to start your base plan by selecting which Town Hall level you would like your plan to be. You can do this by selecting the blue number 10 button on the top right hand side of the plan. This will show a dropdown of all the Town hall levels you can select. 1-10. Be aware that if you change your town hall level during the creation of a plan, if your plan is not saved all of your hard work will be lost forever. Pick a level and stick with it is my advice.

    Placing structures onto your grid

First thing you need to know about the builder is how to place your structures on the field. In stead of dragging and dropping your structures like the old builder, all you need to do is select the structure of choice from the tool bar below. Clicking the structure once will drop the structure onto the grid. From that point, you will be able to drag the structure around and place it in your desired position.

Deploying all structures on to your grid

A fun and simple way of deploying all of your structures onto the field is by using our fancy new hotkey 'X' . Select one structure on the bottom tool bar and press 'X' on your key board this will deploy the next structure. As you continue to press 'X' it will continue to deploy the structures as so onto your grid.

    Removing structures

There are several different ways of removing structures from your base field. Here is a list of options on how you can remove structures:

    Remove Button
One easy way is by selecting the structure of choice and then selecting the 'Remove' button on the bottom center of your plan. This will put the structure back into your toolbar below. Or a quick and easy way to remove is by selecting the item you would like to remove and hitting the 'E' button on your keyboard.

    Erase Mode
Erase Mode button toggles Erase Mode in which you can remove structures from the grid by selecting them. To easily turn your erase mode on and off just press the 'Z' key on your keyboard.

    Remove All
Remove All button will remove ALL of the structures on the grid and puts them back into your toolbar. To easily remove everything at once, just press the 'V' Button on your keyboard.

    Group Selection Mode
The Group Selection Mode button allows you to select multiple structures at once. Drag the "lasso" around the group of structures that you would like to remove and then press the 'Remove' on the bottom center of your grid. Group Selection mode is easily turned on and off by selecting 'G' on your keyboard

Building your base

With the new builder tool we have made it more convenient to easily add, remove and move structures on your base plan. Doing so will allow your base building experience to feel much more productive and less time consuming. Let me show you how much easier it is now that we have implemented some new features:

Wall Mode
You can add walls easily to your grid by either selecting the 'W' key on your keyboard and dragging your walls pieces on the grid with your mouse. Or by selecting the actual wall icon on your tool bar that will automatically select Wall Mode for you.

Group Selection Mode
Remember how we used group selection mode for erasing buildings? Well you can use this option for moving groups of structures as well. Group selection mode allows you to select and move multiple structures at once. Selection can occur by clicking or dragging a 'lasso' around multiple structures at once. Be careful, this could result in some structures leaving the boundaries of the grid. You can turn group selection mode on and off easily by selecting the 'G' key on your keyboard.

Offensive Structure Placement

With our new builder tool we have made it easy to place your offensive buildings in the perfect position by adding toggle buttons for each type of offensive range. Let me show you...

Freeze Spell Radius
Freeze spell radius is the first spell icon you will see on the left hand side of your grid. The freeze spell radius button shows you the range of a Freeze Spell so you can compare it to your base layout to minimize the spell's effectiveness.

Lightning Spell Radius
Lightning Spell Radius is the second spell icon you will see on the left hand side of your grid. The Lightning Spell Radius shows you the range of a Lightning Spell so you can compare it to your base layout to minimize the spell's effectiveness.

Toggle Range
The Toggle Range button is the 'R' button on the left hand side of your grid. The Toggle Range button toggles the range for all offensive structures on your grid. Easily marking their range distance for your perfect offensive placement. This button can be accessed easily by selecting the 'R' button on your keyboard.

Toggle Dropzones
The Toggle Dropzones button is the 'D' button on the left hand side of your grid. The Toggle Dropzone button toggles the dropzone in which troops can not be placed near this base. You can easily access this feature by selecting 'D' on your keyboard.

Toggle Air Damage Range
The Toggle Air Damage Range button is the 'A' Button on the left hand side of your grid. The Toggle Air Damage Range button toggles the range for all offensive structures with air damage. You can easily access this feature by selecting 'A'on your keyboard.

Toggle Single Target Damage Range
The Toggle Single Target Damage Range button is the 'SI' Button on the left hand side of your grid. The Toggle Single Target Damage Range button toggles the range for all offensive structures with single target damage. You can easily access this feature by selecting the 'S' button on your keyboard.

Toggle Splash Damage Range
The Toggle Single Target Damage Range button is the 'SP' button on the left hand side of your grid. The Toggle Splash Damage Range button toggles the range for all offensive structures with splash damage (damages more than on opponent at a time) you can easily access this feature by selecting the 'Q' button on your keyboard.

Toggle Negative Healing Range
The Toggle Negative Healing Range button is the '-H' button on the left hand side of your grid. The Toggle Negative Healing Range button toggles the range of buildings such as the Inferno Towers that can negate the effects of a heal spell. You can easily access this feature by selecting the 'C' button on your keyboard.

Hotkey List

You will be able to easily see the listing of all of the hotkeys by selecting the help button on the builder.
  • Dropping Multiple structures - 'X'
  • Group Selection Mode - 'G'
  • Erase Mode - 'Z'
  • Remove All Structures - 'V'
  • Save Plan - 'F'
  • Help - 'H'
  • Wall Mode - 'W'
  • Toggle Range - 'R'
  • Toggle Dropzones - 'D'
  • Toggle Air Damage Range - 'A'
  • Toggle Single Target Damage Range - 'S'
  • Toggle Splash Damage Range - 'Q'
  • Toggle Negative Healing Range - 'C'
  • Remove - 'E'

  • Completing your base plan

Once you have finished building your base plan select the tab in the center of the structure tool bar on the bottom of the screen. This will pull up a window where you are to give your base a snazzy title, select the privacy setting, select the base type you have created and last but not least give a description of your base.

Once you feel satisfied with you base plan, and you have used at least 50% of the structures on the plan, you can now save your base plan by selecting the 'Save Now' button on the right hand side of the screen. Keep in mind your plan will only be shown publicly if you use 100% of your structures in your saved plan. This will help weed out the less useful base plans the community will be searching through.

After you save your base plan that has 100% of the structures used, you will be provided with a image of your plan and a handy dandy embed link. Copy your link into your twitter, Facebook or even your instagram account to share your creation with the entire world!

    Scoping out other base plans

Now when you are base plan 'surfing' you will be able to have a bit more fun with them. As you can see the title of the base plan will show, brightly colored with the autors name below on the top of the plan page. Below the plan you will be able to view all the fancy stats such as; Town Hall level, Base Type, Rating, Views, Comments, Attacked, and when the plan was created. You will also be able to toggle all of the defensive structures range to see how effective they will be. You will be able to do so by using the hotkeys we talked about while creating the base plan. Or you can do it the ol' fashion way by selecting the button on the left hand side of the grid.

On the bottom right you will see the 'Info' Button. When selected all of the information provided in the description of the plan will show here. Feel free to announce your clan recruitment here and not in other plans comments.. hint, hint. Nudge, Nudge. Wink, Wink. Yes, I'm talking to you ;)

Mastering the tools while viewing base plans

You will also see in the top right hand corner of the grid a new set of buttons.
    • 'C' - Copy Base Plans - Which will allow you to start a new base plan using the existing layout of this plan.
    • 'E' - Embed Base Plans - Which gives you a link in which you can share this plan with other in the forums and/or social networks
    • 'U' - I'm Using this Plan in Game! - Selecting this button will say so to emphasize the usefulness of the plan.

    • We know you will enjoy the builder face lift. But we always love to hear your feedback. Share with us in the comments below any concerns you may have or better yet, share with us about how much better this made your day! If you come across any bugs (there's always bugs) please let us know about them as well. Enjoy!

Check out what Galadon has to say about our new builder tool!

      UPDATE:
      Overlapping Annoying Buttons
We have had a few people mention that the buttons overlapping the grid are in the way of building your perfect base plan. You can easily avoid the buttons by selecting the boarder (tan sandy area) of the map and dragging the field to wherever you would like. This will help you get to all those hard to reach spots.

You can still access the old builder tool
For all you old school die hards out there, there is a way you can still use the old builder. All you have to do is add &old=true to the end of http://clashofclansbuilder.com/build. So your link to the old builder will look like this http://clashofclansbuilder.com/build?old=true

Now, if you want to change the base level, it gets a bit more tricky. You will have to add ?bl=5&old=true to the end of the builder link. All you have to do is change the number after the bl= to whatever base level you are looking to build. So here is what your link will look like if you would like to create an old plan for base level 7. http://clashofclansbuilder.com/build?bl=7&old=true

Here is a list of links to the old builder tool by base level:

Great work, love the new builder tool. Is there a chance to switch between xbow air/ground to see the range? Or did I miss it?
Otherwise, well done! Keep it up!

Checking out on the builder tool after the fixed bugs, it's AMAZING!!!!
Love it, Love it, Love it. Just one problem that I need to be able to post screenshots to be able to provide you with the bugs. So an e-mail address to contact you would be good so I can tell you about the bug I found when building a TH9 base.

Also, now that you got your hands on the CoC font, could you tell me what it is?

    Thanks,

Skydiver, you can actually move the map around. Perhaps I need to update that tutorial... Anyways, by clicking on the outer border of the grid while creating a plan allows you to move the map around so you don't have to worry about those buttons.

Benji, there's no support for that at the moment. This is Clash of Clans Builder my good man, there are no finger pointers here. Well except that kid in the corner with the glowering eyes. He probably points a lot of fingers. Aimed directly up his nose holes.

Would it be possible to move the right panel edit tools and the remove pop-up button off of the map. When making more expansive base plans you can not move structures easily under the buttons.

Vahid, you can actually. Just tack on "?old=true" to the address when viewing/creating a plan of your plan and you can use the old tool instead of the new. Obviously it's not something I'm going to promote because the new tool needs to be able to satisfy your every deepest, dark urges but in the meantime, go nuts.

But we'll no longer be supporting the old tool from now on though, we'll make structures for it for a while but we'll be working on the new tool from now on for obvious reasons.

I checked back into the builder and my walls are back; I am pretty sure everyone's are. I am mentioning this because neggs didn't and so everyone will notice, as some people may not have looked at any bases yet.

Also, I wanted to say thanks! It was weird when my walls could be placed literally anywhere but the spaces they should be in. Although it was funny when I placed them to block the mortar opening. Heheh.

So a few things have been fixed so far.

    - Loading time improved
    - Images all redone (and much, much better)
    - re-ordered the structure toolbar (probably going to keep playing with it through the week)

Next big things that will be tackled:

    - filters for the toolbar (i.e. defensive, resources, other, etc)
    - dragging from the toolbar to the main scene

Another annoying point is the in-game Toolbar. It's kind of ironic cause it took a while to get that sucker in there.

So I'm going to need to basically retool that and add a few filters so that you can say "DEFENSIVE STRUCTURES" and only view defensive structures in the toolbar. Same thing for offensive, resources, etc. That should make toolbar management a wee bit easier.

I've had one person ask me to bring back the blue 'holding area' and that's not an answer to the issue, we just need to make the toolbars more accessible and easier to work with. Essentially creating a better UI than the in-game version.

So here's where we are on some of the feedback:

    - working on the loading time. a lot of new stuff going on behind the scenes, gets a bit heavy.
    - redoing the structure images (including walls), the bases don't seem as... what's the word "intimidating", just too much grass in between structures. It's funny how much of an impact that has on things.
    - order of items on the toolbar, that was going to be something done this week but i guess you guys are driving me to an early grave so I'll try to hit it tonight
    - dragging off the toolbar: bit of a technical hurdle on that one but i'll see what i can do

    Working working working. Stay tuned.
