We've all made bases for Town Hall 6, tried to max out our TH7's and might have come through that stage with 2 storages of each. but once we arrived at TH8 and we are saving for those big projects, we usually have a lot of gold and elixir we need to protect at one time.
For anyone who does not know this yet the maximum loot your opponent can take from your STORAGES, I will run that through here, they can take more than this total, but that includes loot from your collectors.
THESE NUMBERS ARE FROM YOUR STORAGES ONLY!
defending a base from:
Someone 2 TH's above you... the max they can take is 100,000g, 100,000e, and 1,000 dark e
Someone 1 TH above you... the max they can take is 180,000g, 180,000e, and 1,800 dark e
Someone equal TH level... the max they can take is 200,000g, 200,000e, and 2,000 dark e
Someone 1 TH below you... the max they can take is 220,000g, 220,000e, and 2,200 dark e
Someone 2 TH's below you... the max they can take is 300,000g, 300,000e, and 3,000 dark e
What does this mean? What does this mean for me now that I am at TH8, TH9, or TH10?
Lets take the example of a equal TH as you.
If you have TH7 and 2 storages, the max loot that can be taken from 1 storage is 100,000.
Once you have TH8 and 3 storages, the max loot that can be taken from 1 storage is 66,000.
Once you have TH9 and 4 storages, the max loot that can be taken from 1 storage is 50,000.
Lets say your TH9 and you have all your storages in the middle of your well made base, and an opponent (TH9) comes and tries to wipe out your base... If he moves evenly across your base and does 65% damage to your base... he might be able to take ALL 4 gold storages and all 4 elixir storages because they were crammed up in the middle. Lets say you have all your storages evenly spread around the base (still within the walls) and the same opponent moves evenly across your base and does 65% damage. He may only get 4 or 5 of your 8 storages even though he did the same amount of damage to your base
Lets say your opponent does and all archer raid and comes from all sides at once. If all 8 of your storages are very close to the outside of your base, he might be able to take ALL of your storages. but if your storages are bunched up in the middle of your base, he will get NONE of your storages.
The outside storage base will do poor against archers all around but good against a 65% win
The inside storage base will do poor against a 65% win but good against archers all around
At TH7 farming is straight forwards because if you lose 1 storage you loose 100,000... so put all your storages close to the middle.
At Th8 these bases have a good mix of having storages close to the edge, but not too close that archers all around can ruin your day.
Look at this successful base plan by Weee.
Or this successful TH8 base plan by Koop88.
THIS IS THE IMPORTANT PART
What Is different about TH9's and TH10's tho???
should you do the same as TH8 and try to find the happy medium or should you change things up because of the 4th storage. It really depends on your defences.
---If you easily get 100%ed out by other TH9's ... you might want to clump your storages into the middle so that infantry armies (barbs, archers, and gobs), can't take all your storages... farm low at 1200-1450.
---If you are constantly getting wiped out to about 65% by a well played archer/giant/healer army, you might want to spread your storages outwards to make sure they don't take all the storages in the middle. You can farm between 1400 and 1800, but as you move up or down in cups you may fall into the category of getting easily 100%ed or never getting beat over 40%.
---If your defences are crazy good and even a well played army with spells and hero's only does 25%-40% damage on your base, AND even if the opponent plays infantry and tries to surround your base quickly, you still wipe them out fast.... you should have most of your defences very close to the outside as long as splash damage defences still cover them. This is conducive to farming well above 1600 where the surround and kill armies are rare and the all out 100% armies are more common.
No one base build for TH9 is THE ULTIMATE, there are efficient wall layouts and poor wall layouts. At this point in the game (TH9+) you should be able to pick a wall layout and move the inner buildings around as you upgrade defences, progress from poor defences to beastly defences, and as you move up or down in cup standings...
shameless plug for one of my own efficient wall layouts for TH9. Try it out... don't forget to switch the buildings around as you see fit!!!
Thanks for reading this post. Cheers and good luck...
